Si \u00e8 dedicato prevalentemente allo studio del cinema italiano, con una particolare attenzione per l\u2019analisi del film coniugata con la ricerca d\u2019archivio, e all\u2019opera di alcuni registi spagnoli (Luis Bu\u00f1uel e V\u00edctor Erice). \u00c8 autore di numerosi saggi, pubblicati in volumi collettanei e in riviste, e di alcune monografie: <em>Roberto Rossellini. Roma citt\u00e0 aperta<\/em> (Lindau, 2006 e 2013); <em>Il cinema trascritto. Strumenti per l\u2019analisi del film<\/em> (Bulzoni, 2006); <em>Vittorio De Sica.
